How to put hearing aids in pairing mode?

Putting hearing aids in Bluetooth pairing mode can differ by device, so refer to your manual for specific instructions.

Options include:

  1. Opening and closing the battery compartments will reset the hearing aids and put them into pairing mode for three minutes.

  2. Pressing the button on your hearing aids to put them into pairing mode.

  1. Open the Bluetooth settings on your device

    This is usually found in your phone's settings menu.

  2. Place your hearing aids in pairing mode

    The process varies by brand and model, so consult your hearing aid manual or follow the directions provided in the section above.

    It may entail pushing the volume button on your hearing aid, or using the hearing aid app.

  3. To pair, tap on your hearing aid's name to select it

    In the list of available devices on your phone or device, look for the name of your hearing aid.

    It may appear with the brand name or model (e.g., "HearingAid-XYZ").

  4. If prompted, confirm the pairing on your phone and/or hearing aids

    Some hearing aids may require you to press a button or acknowledge the connection in a companion app.
  • Tip

    • Make sure your hearing aids are charged and turned on. 

    • Your hearing aids might require a separate app for Bluetooth connectivity.

    • If you have issues, contact your local hearing care professional for assistance.

How to connect hearing aids to TV?

  1. Check for compatibility 

    Most modern hearing aids have Bluetooth.

    Check your hearing aid manual or contact your hearing care professional for compatibility information.

  2. If your TV has built-in Bluetooth, navigate to the Bluetooth settings menu (usually under "Settings" or "Audio/Devices").

    If not, connect a Bluetooth TV streamer to your TV's audio output (e.g., HDMI, optical, or 3.5mm jack).

  3. Pair your hearing aids to your TV 

    Follow the pairing instructions for your TV or streamer and put your hearing aids in pairing mode.

  4. Adjust sound

    Use your hearing aid app to adjust volume and settings for your best hearing experience.

  3. Choose your hearing aid model from the list of available devices that appear on your phone's Bluetooth settings.

  • Troubleshooting

    • Restart: If connection problems occur, restart both your phone and hearing aids.

    • Hearing aid App: The hearing aid app offers detailed pairing instructions specific to your hearing aid model.
Connecting to laptop, tablet or desktop computer

How to connect hearing aids to a laptop, tablet or desktop computer?

  1. Enable Bluetooth on your device under you device's settings.

  4. In addition, some hearing aids have a built-in USB port for charging and firmware updates

    Your hearing aid manual will tell you if your hearing aid has this feature.

    If so, plug the hearing aid directly into your computer's USB port and follow your manual for specific instructions.

Connecting to iPhone

How to connect hearing aids to iPhone?

Connecting your hearing aids to your iPhone can allow you to do things like stream phone calls and music from your phone directly into your hearing aids.

Depending on your device, you may also have features like health monitoring, fall detection, and even language translation.

  1. Check that your hearing aids have Bluetooth capability and your hearing aids are Made-for-iPhone (MFi) compatible by checking your hearing aid manual.

  2. Go to your phone Settings > Bluetooth and make sure it's turned on.

  3. Open your hearing aid app and go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices. 

  4. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode

    Be sure to refer to your hearing aid manual for instructions or the How to put your hearing aids in pairing mode section on this page.

    If you have more than one pair of hearing aids, wait for the first hearing aid to connect, then tap the other hearing aid in the list of available devices.

  5. Select your hearing aids when they appear in the list of devices under your phone's Bluetooth settings. 

  6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing.

How to connect hearing aids to your Android phone

Connecting your hearing aids to your Android phone can allow you to do things like stream phone calls and music from your phone directly into your hearing aids.

To connect your hearing aids to your Android phone, follow these five steps:


  1. Ensure compatibility

    Check that your hearing aids have Bluetooth capability.

  2. Enable Bluetooth

    Go to your phone's settings and turn on Bluetooth.

  3. Select your hearing aids 

    Tap on Connected devices > Pair new device. Choose your hearing aid from the list of available devices. 

  4. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode 

    Be sure to refer to your hearing aid manual for instructions.

    If you have more than one pair of hearing aids, wait for the first hearing aid to connect, then tap the other hearing aid in the list of available devices.

  5. Confirm pairing

    Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing.


You also have the option to install the hearing aid manufacturer's app.

Some manufacturers have Android apps that provide additional controls and features.

Connecting to iPad

How to connect hearing aids to iPad?

  1. Check hat your hearing aids have Bluetooth capability and your hearing aids are Made-for-iPhone (MFi) compatible by checking your hearing aid manual.

  2. Go to your iPad Settings > Bluetooth and make sure it's turned on.

  3. Open your hearing aid app and go to  Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices.   

  4. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode

    If you have more than one pair of hearing aids, wait for the first hearing aid to connect, then tap the other hearing aid in the list of available devices.

  5. Select your hearing aids in the list of available devices under Bluetooth or Hearing Devices.

  6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing. Your iPad may notify you when pairing is successful.
Connecting to MacBook

How to connect hearing aids to MacBook?

  1. Check that your hearing aids have Bluetooth capability by checking your hearing aid manual.

  2. On your MacBook, click the Apple menu > System Settings or System Preferences > Bluetooth and make sure it's turned on.

  3. Open your hearing aid app and go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices.   

  4. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode

    If you have more than one pair of hearing aids, wait for the first hearing aid to connect, then tap the other hearing aid in the list of available devices.

  5. Select your hearing aids when they appear in the list of devices under your phone's Bluetooth settings. 

  6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing. Your MacBook may notify you when pairing is successful.
  • Important

    • Distance: Keep your hearing aids close to the device your pairing it with (iPhone, Android phone, iPad, MacBook, etc.) during the pairing process.

    • Interference: Minimize potential interference by pairing your hearing aids with a device away from other Bluetooth devices.

    • Troubleshooting: If you have issues, try restarting your device and hearing aids.

    • Updates: Ensure your hearing aids' firmware and your smartphone and computer operating systems are up-to-date.
Connecting to Apple Watch

How to connect hearing aids to Apple Watch?

Pairing your hearing aids with an Apple Watch unlocks a range of features that can improve your hearing experience and add convenience.

Your Apple Watch can serve as a remote control for your hearing aids, letting you easily adjust the volume, change audio streaming apps — such as switching from a podcast to music — and much more.

You can also set up vibrating alerts for things like:

  • Incoming phone calls and text messages.

  • Medication reminders and emergencies.

  • GPS turn-by-turn navigation.


To connect your hearing aids and enable Apple Watch integration:

  1. Pair your hearing aids with your iPhone

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  • Navigate to Accessibility > Hearing Devices and follow the pairing instructions. Alternatively, use the Bluetooth settings if specified in your hearing aid manual.

  1. Sync hearing aid controls to your Apple Watch

  • Once paired with your iPhone, your Apple Watch can receive notifications and offer controls through supported apps or system integration.

Note: Apple Watches generally do not connect directly to hearing aids via Bluetooth.
